Singer Camila Murillo and DJ/Producer Alejandro Peinador come from two opposing genres of electronic music: mainstream dance and underground house, together as the duo EWA they explore the middle ground between the genres.
The name EWA comes from the language spoken by the indigenous Bri Bri tribe of Costa Rica and literally means “Hello”.
Alejandro and Camila said hello for the first time in late 2013 at a hotel lobby in Costa Rica, she was on her way to sing at a show in the hotel’s casino and he was about to mix at the rooftop lounge, a 3 minute introduction that would spark the light of EWA.
Their different personalities and varied musical tastes merged in the studio and gave EWA a distinct sound that’s difficult to classify, going from distorted electro bangers to sensual deep house ballads.
